2017 Color of the Year Greenery (PANTONE 15-0343)

Looking to add a little Greenery into your home décor? Looks like you’re not alone. Pantone, the global authority on color, has named Greenery (PANTONE 15-0343) as the Color of the Year for 2017. As “nature’s neutral,” this fresh and zesty yellow-green color calls to mind the first days of spring when Mother Nature revives, restores, and renews—a welcome thought since we’re in the midst of our New England winter.

You may be wondering, what, exactly, is the “Color of the Year?” Every year, Pantone Color Institute chooses a color that is symbolic of what we see taking place in our global culture. They select a color that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude. And as Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute says, “Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the hope we collectively yearn for amid a complex social and political landscape. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate, revitalize, and unite, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another, and a larger purpose.”

Granted, we may not see natural shades like Greenery in the granite and marble slabs we offer here at Marble & Granite, Inc., however it is a shade commonly seen in nature. It’s an uplifting accent color with undertones of cool blues and vibrant yellows, making it a natural complement to a wide range of palettes. Like the spectrum of possibilities in colorful petals and blooms paired with lush green leaves, plants, and trees, Greenery provides a pop of color or acts as a bold accent.

You can infuse Greenery throughout your home with botanically themed wallpaper, paint, accent furniture and more. Not so sure about committing to such a bold color when it comes to your major décor and architectural elements (such as cabinets, countertops, and sofas,) try adding a terrarium or a “living wall.” If you’re really looking to bring a sense of “green” into the home, consider adding floor-to-ceiling windows to allow the green outdoors to become a part of your room’s backdrop and ambiance.
